Nix Sensor Ltd selected as a two-time winner in prestigious German Design Awards
Hamilton, ON, October 20, 2017. Nix Sensor Ltd, Ontario-based technology company, has been named a two-time winner of the internationally recognized 2018 German Design Awards. Their hand-held colorimeters the Nix Pro Color Sensor and Nix Mini Color Sensor were awarded Winners of Excellent Product Design by the German Design Council, Germany’s leading brand and design authority.
Nix’s powerful color sensors provide accurate color measurement of any surface and sends the data to the accompanying smartphone application. Once a color is scanned, users can match to more than 28,000 colors in the application’s library, discover color harmonies, save colors by project or room, incorporate digital color values in their projects, and even locate the nearest paint shop. Their unique and patented shape blocks out all ambient light, which allows for its industry leading accuracy.

Launched in 2012, the German Design Award is one of the most well-respected design competitions in the world and is held in high regard well beyond professional circles.
With their unique nomination process, products and communication design services are only invited to participate in the German Design Awards if their product demonstrates outstanding design quality. This year there were more than 5,000 entries, with 758 coming from abroad. The jury of over 40 design experts from various disciplines including the world of design, business, education and science, assessed each product before selecting the winners that best reflected the overall aspects of excellent product design.
German Design Council will bestow the German Design Award within the context of the world’s largest consumer goods fair Ambiente 2018 in Frankfurt, Germany. With more than 1,200 participants from the fields of politics, industry, design and press, the award ceremony is one of the most significant design events of the year. Accompanying the award ceremony, all winners will be featured as part of the German Design Award –Excellent Product Design exhibition at the Frankfurt Fairgrounds.
